Introduction to Using Scanner Functions This section describes the things that you must do before using the scanner functions. Be sure to set the following items first: Scanning Documents to a Computer ˔ ScanGear iR: Install the scanner driver ScanGear iR. ScanGear iR enables you to use the machine as scanner. (See "About User Software CD-ROM," in the Quick Start Guide.) ˔ USB connection: Connect the machine to your computer with the USB cable. (See "USB Connection," in the Quick Start Guide.) The scanner driver is available only through a USB connection. Scanning Documents to a File Server (imageRUNNER 1025iF Only) ˔ Network settings: Set the network settings to enable your machine to communicate over the network. (See "Network settings," in the e-Manual.) ˔ File server settings: Set the file server settings to enable your machine to communicate with a file server.
