CHAPTER 2 D. Paper Pick-up/Feed System 1. Outline Paper is guided through the duplexing unit by the duplex deflector to the switchback unit. The paper sent to the switchback unit is then fed back into the duplexing unit by reversing the direction of the paper feed of the switchback roller. Once in the duplexing unit the paper is aligned with the side registration guides and re-fed into the printer by the duplex feed rollers 1 and 2. The switchback roller is rotated from the drive of the switchback motor (SMT21). The duplex feed clutch controls the drive of the switchback motor (SMT21) which rotates duplex feed rollers 1 and 2. The switchback motor (SMT21) is a stepping motor, and can be rotated clock wise or counterclock wise according to signals sent from the CPU on the duplexing driver PCB. The side registration guides are driven by the side registration motor (SMT22) which drives to suit the size of paper accordingly. 2 - 74

Paper Pick-up/Feed System

Outline

Paper is guided through the duplexing unit by the duplex deflector to the switchback unit.

The paper sent to the switchback unit is then fed back into the duplexing unit by reversing the

direction of the paper feed of the switchback roller.

Once in the duplexing unit the paper is

aligned with the side registration guides and re-fed into the printer by the duplex feed rollers 1

and 2.
