CHAPTER 3 III. PAPER TRANSPORT SYSTEM A. Pick-up Unit 1. Removal from the printer 1) Pull out the upper and lower cassettes. 2) Perform steps 1-6 on Page 3-17 to remove the manual feed pick-up unit. 3) Remove the right cover. 4) Undo the connector. 7) Remove the 4 screws, and take out the pick-up unit. Ž  Œ Œ Connector Figure 3-3-1 5) Perform steps 1-2 on Page 3-20 to remove the pick-up, feed and separation rollers. 6) Remove the cable from the guide. While replacing parts in the pick-up unit, to prevent grease from getting on the pick-up, feed and separation rollers, be sure to remove them before working on the unit. Take care not to get grease on the paper feed guide. 2. Be sure to grease the gears shown in figure 3-3-3 when exchanging, to prevent noise. The type of grease (do not use grease other than the specified type) and the method of application is explained below: Grease: Permalub SHV-2 Application method: Apply a small amount of grease to 3 or more continuous cogs on the gear. 3 - 12
