CHAPTER 4 D. Service Checkpoints 1. Printer a. Cartridge • Photosensitive drum As a rule, do not touch or clean the drum. When cleaning is unavoidable, never use solvents. Do not expose to light. For details, see Chapter 3. b. Manual feeding pick-up roller, cassette pick-up roller, separation roller, and feed roller Clean with lint-free paper, either dry or moistened with ethyl/isopropyl alcohol. Replace if badly worn. c. Separation pad Clean with lint-free paper. d. Registration roller unit Clean with lint-free paper. If badly contaminated, use it with ethyl/isopropyl alcohol for rubber parts and MEK(methyl ethyl ketone) for other parts. Avoid skew or paper jams caused by removal of the springs. e. Transfer guide unit Clean with soft, dry flannel cloth. f. Transfer charging roller Clean only when badly contaminated. Never use water or solvent. Do not touch the roller or allow any solvent or oil to deposit on the surface. For details, see Chapter 3. g. Static charge eliminator Clean with brush. h. Feed guide unit Clean with lint-free paper. i. Fixing unit • Fixing entry guide Clean with lint-free paper moistened with MEK. • Fixing separation guide Clean lightly with lint-free paper moistened with MEK, only to remove the toner deposit. • Fixing separation claw Clean lightly with lint-free paper moistened with MEK, only to remove the toner deposit. 4 - 2
