CHAPTER 4 2. Periodical stain (separation roller, transfer charging roller, fixing upper roller, EP-W cartridge) Action: Clean dirty rollers as shown in Table 4-5-1 on page 4-27. If they cannot be cleaned, replace them. I-10 Blank spots 1. The recommended paper is not being used. Action: Replace the paper with the recommended paper. Advise the customer to use the recommended paper. 2. The paper is damp. Action: Replace the paper. Instruct the customer to wrap and store print paper correctly. 3. The transfer charging roller is dirty or deformed. Action: Replace the roller. 4. The EP-W cartridge is defective. Action: Replace the cartridge. I-11 White vertical lines 1. Lack of toner Action: Take out the cartridge, rock it as shown in Chapter 1 to distribute the toner evenly, then reinstall it. If the problem continues, replace the cartridge. 2. The photosensitive drum is scratched. Action: Replace the cartridge. 3. Foreign matter is on the laser outlet of the printer or the laser inlet of the cartridge. Action: Remove the foreign matter. 4. The fixing entry guide is dirty or a foreign object is on it. Action: Clean the fixing entry guide. 5. The fixing upper roller surface is damaged or dented. Action: Replace the fixing upper roller. 6. The mirror in the laser/scanner unit is dirty. Action: Replace the laser/scanner unit. I-12 White horizontal lines 1. The EP-W cartridge or fixing upper roller is defective. Action: Replace the cartridge or the fixing upper roller as shown in Table 4-5-1 on page 427. 4 - 25
