CHAPTER 2 2. Pick-up/Feeding The paper deck driver drives the pick-up motor (SMT31) after receiving a pick-up command from the option controller. SMT31 rotates the pick-up, feed, and separation rollers. The paper deck driver simultaneously turns the feed clutch (CL33) and pick-up solenoid (SL31) ON, and rotates the pick-up cam. One sheet of paper is picked-up as the rotating pick-up roller is lowered to the paper surface. After any excess pages have been separated by the separation roller, one sheet is sent into the feed unit with feed roller 1. The paper reaches the registration roller after passing through the registration paper sensor (PS31). As the registration roller is not rotating, the paper stops momentarily and the leading edge is looped to straighten out any skew.
