D8B-HDR24/96 Setup Hookups This section shows how the D8B is connected to the Mackie HDR24/96. These examples assume that the rest of your studio equipment (monitors, sound sources, outboard processing, etc.) is already connected. Before you begin, note how the three eightchannel I/O cards are arranged on the HDR24/96 rear panel: 1-8 is on the left, 9-16 is in the center, and 17-24 is on the right. Labeling cables before you begin will make connecting the HDR24/96 to your D8B easier. The specific hookups for each D8B and HDR24/96 I/O card are shown below. Analog Hookup to HDR24/96 (AIO•8) This example describes the analog hookup for the D8B-HDR24/96 combination. Cables & Hardware (3) AIO•8 cards for HDR24/96 (3) AIO•8 cards for D8B (6) DB25 to DB25 analog snakes Hookup 1. Connect three snakes between the HDR24/96 Inputs (bottom connector) and the corresponding D8B Tape Outputs (top connector). 2. Connect three snakes between the HDR24/96 Outputs (top connector) and the corresponding D8B Tape Inputs (bottom connector). HDR24/96 Settings 1. Set the Sample Clock to Internal. 2. Set the Sample Rate and Bit Depth according to your preference. It is not necessary to set the D8B and HDR24/96 to the same Sample Rate since, with analog connections, the sample clocks on the two units are not synchronized. Console Settings 1. Set the D8B Sample Rate to 44.1kHz or 48kHz, and set the Apogee Clock to Internal (in the Digital I/O Setup window). This example describes the hookup for the D8B console equipped for analog I/O.
