3. In the Hardware area, click Print & Fax. 4. If you are installing the product using a USB connection, verify that the product appears on the Printers list. If the product does not appear, or if the correct information does not appear in the Kind column, see Troubleshooting the product setup on page 162. If you are installing the product using a network connection, continue with the following steps. 5. Click the + button to open a printer browser screen that lists detected network products. 6. Use either Bonjour or IP Printing for the network connection. ● Bonjour a. If it is not already active, click the Default tab. b. Select the product from the list. The software verifies that the product is connected to the network and the Print Using field is automatically populated with the correct PPD for the product. c. If the name does not appear in the list, verify that the product is on and connected to the network, then try turning the product off and then on again. If the product PPD does not appear in the Print Using pull-down list, turn the computer off and then on again, then restart the setup process. For more troubleshooting information, see Troubleshooting the product setup on page 162. ● IP Printing a. Click the IP tab. b. Select HP Jet Direct - Socket from the Protocol pull-down menu. This is the recommended setting for HP products. c. Print the product configuration page from the product control panel, and then find the product IP address. d. Type the IP address into the Address field. e. he Name, Location, and Print Using information will automatically be filled in. If the product PPD does not appear in the Print Using field, turn the computer off and then on again and restart the setup process. 7. Click Add. The product is added to the Printers list. 8. Select the product in the list, and then click Options & Supplies. 9. Click Drivers, and then change any installable options as necessary. ● If the product has the optional Tray 3, select Tray 3. ● Select the Duplex Unit check box. 10. Click OK to save the changes.
