2-30 Removal and Replacement Procedures Memory Compaq ProLiant 3000 Servers ship standard with either 128 MB or 256 MB Synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) Dual Inline Memory Modules (DIMMs)installed in the DIMM 5 socket location. Memory can be expanded to a maximum of 4 GB. Install SDRAM DIMM modules one at a time in the proper socket. See Figure 2-27 and Table 2-2. The following guidelines MUST be followed when installing or replacing memory: s Use only 32-, 64-, 128-, 256- or 512-MB SDRAM DIMMs. s Use Compaq SDRAM DIMMs only. s SDRAM DIMMs must all be rated 100 MHz and of the same manufacturer. The recommended SDRAM DIMM installation order is: s First SDRAM DIMM in socket 5 s Second SDRAM DIMM in socket 1 s Third SDRAM DIMM in socket 6 s Fourth SDRAM DIMM in socket 2 s Fifth SDRAM DIMM in socket 7 s Sixth SDRAM DIMM in socket 3 s Seventh SDRAM DIMM in socket 8 s Eighth SDRAM DIMM in socket 4 The following drawing shows the SDRAM DIMM socket locations.
