Power Supply Thermal Shutdown The power supply module has a built-in temperature sensor designed to prevent the power supply from overheating. If a temperature sensor detects an over-temperature condition (>= 70º C (158º F)) the power supply module automatically shuts down. The remaining power supply module continues operating as long as its sensor does not detect an overtemperature condition. If over-temperature is detected by the remaining power supply, it will also shutdown, turning off all power to the controller enclosure. CAUTION There is a serious cooling problem if the air temperature inside the enclosure is hot enough to cause both power supply modules to shut down. Once the air temperature within the enclosure cools to below 70º C (158º F), the power supply module automatically restarts. An automatic restart resets the controller module and attempts to spin up the disks (which has no effect on the disks if they are already running), and returns the controller enclosure to a normal operating state. Typically, recovery procedures are not required after an automatic power supply module shutdown and restart. 268 Controller Enclosure Troubleshooting
