Power Button Assembly Removal/Replacement, Enclosure SC10

Page 312 highlights

Power Button Assembly Removal/Replacement The power button assembly is located in the top cover and consists of the on/off button and push rod. These components operate the electrical switch located on the mezzanine board. If the button or rod is broken, replace the power button assembly. If the internal switch is broken, replace the mezzanine board (described following this procedure). The disk enclosure must be powered off to complete this procedure. The backplane and mezzanine boards must be replaced by a trained service representative only. 1. Power off the disk enclosure and slide it out of the rack about 10 inches. See "Disk Enclosure SC10" on page 304. 2. Remove the top cover. See "Top Cover Removal/Replacement" on page 310. 3. Pry the on/off button (A in Figure 101) off the rod in the underside of the top cover. 4. Slide the spring off the rod. 5. Pull the rod out from the back of the cover. 6. Slide the replacement push rod (B in Figure 101) - narrow end first - into the slot in the back edge of the cover plate. Thread the rod through the slot as follows: a. Rotate the rod so that the right-angle standoffs (D) on the wide end of the rod pass through the L-shaped notch in the cover. b. Guide the narrow end of the rod past additional slots at the front edge until the tip is exposed. 7. Slide the metal spring on the tip of the rod. 8. Snap the on/off button (A) onto the tip of the rod so that the straight line on the face of the button is at the top when the cover is on the chassis. 9. Replace the top cover and reconnect the disk enclosure. See "Installing the Disk Enclosure SC10" on page 307. 312 Internal Disk Enclosure Assemblies
