Maximum Capacity Note This configuration is not recommended for environments where high availability is critical. To achieve high availability each disk in a volume group should be in a different disk enclosure. This configuration does not achieve that level of protection. • Hardware Configuration - Two disk array controllers connected directly to host Fibre Channel adapters - Two disk enclosures with ten 73 GByte disks each (20 disks total) - Disk enclosures configured for split-bus mode (two SCSI channels per enclosure) • Volume Group Configuration - Five RAID 5 volume groups, each comprising four disks (3 data + 1 parity) - Each disk in a volume group is on a separate SCSI bus. • High Availability - Handles the failure of a single disk, single controller, or a single channel - Does not handle a disk enclosure failure, consequently this configuration is NOT recommended for critical high availability installations. - Expansion requires powering down the disk array, removing terminators and/or cables from the enclosures, and cabling additional disk enclosures. • Disk Capacity - Maximum capacity 1460 GBytes - Usable capacity 1095 GBytes 78 Recommended Disk Array Configurations
