Selecting the Focus Area (AF Mode) Use this procedure to specify the area used to set the focus. POINT • In shots such as group photos where there are many subjects, or where the subject is not in the center of the shot, use the [MULTI] setting to reduce the likelihood of the shot being incorrectly focused. 1 From the recording menu, use the jog dial to select [AF MODE] and press the OK button. ■ RECORDING MENU DIGITAL ZOOM METERING MODE AF MODE CENTER COLOR EXIT CONTRAST 2 Use the jog dial to select [CENTER] or [MULTI] and press the OK button. AF MODE MULTI CANCEL The selected AF mode is set and the recording menu reappears. To cancel the setting, press the MENU button. CENTER : The camera sets the focus by measuring the distance to subject in the center of the shot. The area used for focusing is always displayed in the center of the LCD monitor screen. MULTI : The camera determines which of a number of points should be used for measuring the focal distance. The focus area is displayed in the part of the image used for focusing. MEMO • During digital zooming, the camera focuses on the subject in the center of the LCD monitor regardless of the AF mode setting. See "Shooting with the Zoom" p.50.

Selecting the Focus Area (AF Mode)
Use this procedure to specify the area used to set the focus.
POINT
In shots such as group photos where there are many subjects, or where the
subject is not in the center of the shot, use the [MULTI] setting to reduce the

During digital zooming, the camera focuses on the subject in the center of the
