2. Creating Pattern Chains (Pattern Chain Recording) Step Recording Allows events to be recorded to the BPM track one at a time. Step recording can only be applied to the BPM track. Displays and operation are the same as for BPM track recording in the SONG mode. 1 Beat Graph This is the display in which events are "placed" during step recording. When the meter is 4/4, the display is divided into 4 beats (one measure). Each diamond-shaped marker in the display represents 1 32nd beat (each 1/4 note division is divided into 8 32nd beats). Step Recording Procedure 1. Press [PATT CHAIN] to go to the PATTERN CHAIN Play mode. 2. Use [Knob 1] (CHAIN) to select the chain number to be recorded. 2 POINTER ...... [Knob 1], [SHIFT]+[F1] → Numeric Keypad Sets the data entry position. The triangular pointer above the beat graph indicates the data entry position. Rotate [Knob 1] to move the left or right. Measure numbers can be specified numerically by using [SHIFT] + [F1] + numeric keypad. 3. Press [REC] to engage the record standby mode. 3 STEP (Step Time) 4. Use [Knob 1] (POINTER) to move the pointer to the position at which you want to enter a BPM change, [Knob 2] (STEP) to set the step length, and [Knob 3] (BPM) to set the BPM value. When you need to make large value changes rotate the knob while holding the [SHIFT] button to change values in increments of 10 rather than 1. 8. Enter the specified value by pressing any key on the keyboard. The Pattern Chain Mode
Allows events to be recorded to the BPM track one at a time.
Step recording can only be applied to the BPM track. Displays
and operation are the same as for BPM track recording in the
SONG mode.
Step Recording Procedure
1.
Press [PATT CHAIN] to go to the PATTERN CHAIN Play
mode.
2.
Use [Knob 1] (CHAIN) to select the chain number to be
recorded.
3.
Press [REC] to engage the record standby mode.
4.
Use [Knob 1] (REC TRACK) to select the BPM track to be
recorded.
5.
Use [Knob 3] (REC TYPE) to select the STEP record mode.
6.
Press [PLAY] so that its indicator lights and the Step Record-
ing display appears.
7.
Use [Knob 1] (POINTER) to move the pointer to the position
at which you want to enter a BPM change, [Knob 2] (STEP)
to set the step length, and [Knob 3] (BPM) to set the BPM
value.
When you need to make large value changes rotate the knob
while holding the [SHIFT] button to change values in incre-
ments of 10 rather than 1.
8.
Enter the specified value by pressing any key on the key-
board.

If you press the [PLAY] button the [PLAY] indicator will
flash and you will be able to hear how your step-recorded
chain is shaping up. Press [STOP] to stop playback.
10.
Stop recording and return to the SONG Play mode by press-
ing the [STOP] button.

This is the display in which events are “placed” during step
