2. Combining Phrases to Create Patterns (Patch) 2. Combining Phrases to Create Patterns (Patch) Phrases can be combined to create patterns. Pressing the [PATTERN] button alternately selects the PATTERN Play page and this page (PATTERN Patch). Display Parameters 4 Phrase The Pattern Mode 6 7 84 9 0 1 2 3 5 [Knob 1] [Knob 2] [SHIFT]+[F2] [Knob 3] [SHIFT]+[F3] Displays the phrases assigned to each track. Phrase assign- ment is accomplished using [Knob 1] and [Knob 2]. The phrase "boxes" on the display indicate the following: 2 A user phrase which contains no data. The phrase is shorter than the specified length of the pattern. The phrase is longer than the specified length of the pattern. The phrase is shorter than the specified length of the pattern. 5 PHRASE METER, PHRASE LENGTH 1 PHRASE CAT. (Phrase Category Knob 1] 2 PHRASE NO. (Phrase Number) Displays the meter and length in measures of the phrase assigned to the currently selected track. Knob 2], [SHIFT]+[F2] → Numeric Keypad 6 SEC (Section) [Settings] Phrase Category Phrase Number No Phrase, US (User) For more information on the preset phrase categories refer to Appendix (Page 313). 001 ~ 256 (the actual range will [Settings] Section A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P Displays the currently selected section. Select a phrase category and phrase number to assign a phrase to the currently selected track. 7 MEAS (Measure) NOTE See page 72 in "1. Pattern Playback" for the track selection procedure. 8 LENGTH MEAS displays the current measure during playback. Length is the length of the pattern in measures. 3 NOTE SHIFT Knob 3], [SHIFT]+[F3] → Numeric Keypad [Settings] -127 ~ +127 (semitones) Shifts the pitch of the note data in the current phrase up or down in semitone increments. NOTE The [ ], [ ], and [ ] buttons can be used to change the measures number (also during playback). NOTE If a phrase which uses a drum kit voice is noteshifted, the drum instrument sounds will change. RS7000 75
