2. Song Recording SWING OFF when VALUE = OFF 50% ~ 75% when VALUE = 60 66% ~ 83% when VALUE = 80 , 120 , 240 , 480 , 160 , 320 Record quantize aligns the timing of notes which are not exactly on the beat on-the-fly as you record. The record quantize parameters can be set in the Rec Standby mode when the REPLACE or OVERDUB record type is selected. The quantize VALUE parameter specifies the note timing to which the nearest recorded notes will be aligned. The quantize SWING parameter specifies by how much the timing of notes on even-numbered beats (back beats) will be delayed to create a swing feel. When a triplet VALUE is specified, the last note of each triplet is affected by the SWING parameter. Back beat Quarter note length Back beat Original timing Quantize value (Swing rate = 50%) Quantize value (Swing rate = 60%) To adjust the SWING parameter, press [F3] to move the cursor to SWING, then use [Knob 3] to adjust. NOTE • When the OVERDUB record type is selected, quantization will also be applied to the existing data in the track. • When record quantize is not OFF, quantization is applied to all controller data in addition to the note data. Use the Quantize job to quantize only the note data. 4 BPM (Tempo) .... [Knob 4], [F4] → [Knob 4], [SHIFT]+[F4] → Numeric Keypad This parameter has the same effect as in the SONG Play mode. See page 183 for details. 5 Punch-in Point, Punch-out Point .... [Knob 3], [F3] → [Knob 3], [SHIFT]+[F3] → Numeric Keypad Can be set when the REC TYPE is set to PUNCH. [Settings] IN 001:1 ~ 999:4 OUT 001:1 ~ 999:4 Set the punch-in and punch-out points for PUNCH real-time recording. Use [F3] to move the cursor to IN or OUT, and [Knob 3] to set these values as required. For example, first use [Knob 3] to enter the IN measure, then press [F3] to move the cursor and use [Knob 3] to set the OUT measure. [F3] can then be used to move the cursor to the IN beat and OUT beat parameters, which can also be set as required by using [Knob 3]. 6 EVENT TYPE Knob 3], [SHIFT]+[F3] → Numeric Keypad When the STEP record type is selected this parameter specifies the type of event to be recorded. [Settings] NOTE, PITCH BEND, CC[000] ~ CC[119] (Control Change), BPM Change (when the BPM track is selected) NOTE note data is recorded. PITCH BEND pitch bend change data is recorded. CC[000] ~ CC[119] ........ the corresponding control change data is recorded: volume, pan, expression, etc. BPM tempo change data is recorded. Specifies the type of data to be recorded. Numeric key input is valid only when inputting control change numbers. Real-Time Recording Real-time recording allows anything played on the RS7000 keyboard, operation of the assignable knobs, and data received from an external MIDI controller to be recorded in real time. In this section we'll look at the real-time REPLACE, OVERDUB, and PUNCH recording procedure. Record Procedure (REPLACE, OVERDUB) 1. Press [SONG] to enter the SONG Play mode. 2. Use [Knob 1] (SONG) to select the song to be recorded. 3. Press [REC] to engage the Rec Standby mode. 4. Use [Knob 1] (REC TRACK) to select the record track. 5. Press [MIXER] to access the Voice Select display and use [Knob 1] (BANK) and [Knob 3] (PROGRAM) to select the desired voice, then press [EXIT] to return to the Rec Standby display. 6. Use [Knob 2] (REC TYPE) to select the REPLACE or OVERDUB record type. Also use [Knob 3] and [F3] to set up record quantize, and [Knob 4] to set the BPM as required. 186 RS7000
