Using CLI
Route Commands
These commands control static routes. They are available after the
global
route
command. They may also be used as global
commands by preceding them by
route
.
Table 8-35
lists all Route commands. More details about each
command appear after the Table.

interface
Add a static route that goes to the network defined by the
combination of
destination
and
netmask
via the given
gateway.
gateway
may be an IP number or a resolvable machine
name (as described for the
ip_host
parameter type). When the
netmask
is given as a separate parameter, it may be in any of the
common formats. If the
netmask
is given as part of the first
parameter, it may only be a size (for example,
192.193.194.0/24
) and
the destination must be an IP number (as described for
ip_numb
).
If
netmask
is a seperate parameter,
destination
may be a
resolvable machine name (as described for
ip_host
).
If the destination is a single node, the
netmask
must be
255.255.255.255
(or
0xfffffffff
or
/32
).
An
interface
which is up and does not use DHCP to get its IP
number may be used instead of
gateway
. If it is, that interface's IP
number at the time will be used as the gateway address; the route
is not actually associated with the interface so changing its IP
number will not change the route.
