Managing Your IPSAN Managing Storage Pools A storage pool is a disk drive or collection of disk drives which can be divided into iSCSI targets. You can use one, some, or all of the Adaptec iSA1500 disk drives in a storage pool. You can also create a storage pool from a RAID array. This section provides instructions for managing storage pools. You can use Adaptec Storage Manager to: ■ Create a storage pool. (See page 4-5.) ■ View a list of storage pools on an iSCSI subsystem. (See page 6-15.) ■ View details of a specific storage pool. (See page 6-16.) ■ Create an iSCSI target. (See page 4-11.) ■ Add a disk drive to a storage pool. (See page 6-17.) ■ Remove a disk drive from a storage pool. (See page 6-18.) ■ Export a storage pool. (See page 6-19.) ■ Import a foreign-status storage pool. Viewing an iSCSI Subsystem's Storage Pools To view a list of the storage pools associated with an iSCSI subsystem, in the Tree Menu, click on the iSCSI subsystem you want, then click Storage Pools. The Pools On This iSCSI Subsystem window opens, listing all the storage pools associated with the selected iSCSI subsystem. 6-15
