Getting Started Quickly Adding Agents This section explains how to add an agent using Adaptec Storage Manager. An agent is software that lets the Management Station communicate with each iSCSI subsystem and iSCSI Station on your IPSAN. Before Adaptec Storage Manager can recognize the iSCSI subsystem and iSCSI Stations on your IPSAN, they must each be added as static agents. Once all agents are added, you can complete the system configuration. Before you continue, ensure that the network configurations for the Adaptec iSA1500 have been completed (see page 3-7) and that Adaptec Storage Manager is installed on your Management Station and all iSCSI Stations (see page 3-9). Note: If you experience problems viewing Adaptec Storage Manager, check your browser's proxy settings. The proxy server should be turned off; alternatively, add the IP address of your Management Station to the proxy setting exceptions list. To add an agent: 1 From your Management Station, launch a Web browser (for instance, Microsoft Internet Explorer). 2 Type http://localhost:8000 in the address bar, then press Enter to open the Adaptec Storage Manager System Login screen. Note: Bookmark Adaptec Storage Manager in your Web browser for easy access in the future. 3-14
