Managing Your IPSAN Taking an iSCSI Target Offline You can take an iSCSI target offline without changing the contents of the target. Taking a target offline prevents access to that target so that no initiators can log onto it. ! Caution: Use this option with caution. To take an iSCSI target offline: 1 In the Tree Menu, click on the iSCSI Subsystem you want, then click iSCSI Targets. 2 In the Application Window, click on the iSCSI target you want. The Target Information window opens, as shown on page 6-24. 3 Click Take Offline under Current Target Status. The target is taken offline. 4 To bring an iSCSI target back online, click Bring Online under Current Target Status. Creating a Mirror with New iSCSI Targets Note: To enable this Adaptec Storage Manager feature you must purchased a license upgrade. Contact your sales representative for licensing options. A mirror copies all the data from one iSCSI target and places it on another iSCSI target so that you have an exact copy of your data. All writes are copied to both targets, but all reads come from the master target. If the master target fails, the slave target takes over until the master target is brought back online, and no data is lost. A mirror can be on your local system, or can be remote anywhere on your IPSAN. This section explains how to create a mirror with two new iSCSI targets. Managing Your IPSAN
Taking an iSCSI Target Offline
You can take an iSCSI target offline without changing the contents
of the target. Taking a target offline prevents access to that target so
that no initiators can log onto it.
Caution:
Use this option with caution.
To take an iSCSI target offline:

In the Tree Menu, click on the iSCSI Subsystem you want, then
click
iSCSI Targets
.

In the Application Window, click on the iSCSI target you want.
The Target Information window opens, as shown on
page 6-24
.

under Current Target Status.
The target is taken offline.
