Controlling Access and Adding Security Editing User Accounts You can change a user's access level and password, or delete a user. To edit or delete a user account: 1 In Adaptec Storage Manager, click the Users button. (See the Figure in Step 1 on page 5-3.) 2 Under Options: ■ Click the Key icon to change the user's access level. ■ Click the Lock icon to change the user's password. ■ Click the Trash Can icon to delete the user. 3 Follow the on-screen instructions to edit or delete the user account. All user account changes take effect immediately. Generating SAN Passwords You can use Adaptec Storage Manager to create an authentication check between your management station and the agents associated with it. Authentication is achieved through the use of a SAN password. SAN passwords are generated by Adaptec Storage Manager, without user intervention. Note: SAN passwords ensure that a management station can access only the agents that are associated with it. SAN passwords prevent a management station from accessing agents associated with other management stations. By default, the SAN passwords feature is turned off and must be activated manually. To generate a SAN password: 1 On the Adaptec Storage Manager main screen, click the Security button (shown at right) to open the Administrative Functions window. 5-4
