Building Your IPSAN Adding a Storage Pool Once you have decided on the type of volume you want to create, the next step in building your IPSAN is to add a storage pool to the iSCSI subsystem. A storage pool can comprise one drive or multiple drives, with or without redundancy (RAID). Before you begin, plan your storage-do you need everything in one pool, or would multiple pools be more convenient? Adaptec recommends that you make your pools at least 20% larger than is required for the targets, to leave room for snapshots and other advanced features that need available free space. To add a storage pool to an iSCSI subsystem: 1 In the Tree Menu, click on the iSCSI subsystem to which you want to add a storage pool. The iSCSI Subsystem Information window opens, displaying three tabs of information. The System tab is selected by default. Tabs 2 On the System tab, click View under the Pools option. 4-5
