Managing Your IPSAN Assigning a New Drive Letter to a Volume You can assign a new drive letter to a volume. You might want to do this to mount a specific volume to a drive that's used for a different type of information. ! Caution: Changing a volume's drive letter also changes the drive letter in the OS, which can disrupt existing drive mappings and applications. You should be an advanced user before attempting to assign a new drive letter to a volume, and should only complete this procedure if absolutely necessary. To assign a new drive letter to a volume: 1 In the Tree Menu, click on the server that contains the volume you want, then click iSCSI Disks. 2 In the Server Storage window, click the star icon (shown at right) for the drive you want. The Volume Options window opens. 3 Select Assign New Drive Letter, then click OK. The Assign New Drive Letter window opens. 4 Select the new drive letter from the drop-down box, then click OK. The volume is assigned to the new drive letter. 6-10
