Managing Your IPSAN Deleting a Volume You can remove a volume from a server. When you delete a volume that is the last volume on a server, the server is logged out from the Adaptec iSA1500 subsystem. Before deleting a volume, ensure that your data is adequately backed up. Note: You cannot delete a volume that contains snapshots. Delete all of the volume's snapshots before trying to delete the volume. (See Taking a Snapshot of a Volume on page 6-6 for more information.) To delete a volume: 1 In the Tree Menu, click on the server that contains the volume you want to delete, then click Automation. 2 In the Server Storage window, click Delete Volume. 3 Select the volume you want to delete. Note: You cannot undo the deletion of a volume. Be sure you want to delete the volume before continuing. 4 Click OK to delete the volume. Note: You can also delete a volume from the Volume Options window. (See Assigning a New Drive Letter to a Volume on page 6-10 for instructions on opening the Volume Options window.) 6-11
