Using a Country-Specific Modem Cable Standard telephone wall jacks vary worldwide. They are consistent among locations in North America, Latin America, Japan, and Hong Kong, but vary by country elsewhere. To enable modem connections in other countries, Compaq offers optional country-specific modem cables. Each cable connects to the standard telephone wall jacks found in one or more regions or countries. To purchase the country-specific modem cable(s) required for your itinerary, refer to "Worldwide Telephone Numbers" in Appendix A for the name of the nearest authorized Compaq dealer, reseller, or service provider. To view an online list of country-specific modem cables (with part numbers) listed by country: 1. Click StartÆHelpÆdouble-click Modem. 2.
