Solving Battery and Battery Gauge Problems Continued Problem Possible Cause Solution Battery gauge is inaccurate. The battery pack is new or was not used for a long time and has not been fully charged. Fully charge the battery pack until the battery power light or the MultiBay drive light turns off. Battery pack has reached end of its useful life. Allow the battery pack to discharge to the lowbattery warning level at least every 90 days, then fully charge. Purchase a new battery pack. Solving Diskette and Diskette Drive Problems Problem Cannot access diskette drive. Diskette drive cannot write to a diskette. Possible Cause Diskette drive is not seated. Diskette is writeprotected. Diskette is not formatted. Not enough space is left on the diskette. Computer is trying to write to the wrong drive. The diskette drive controller or diskette write ability has been disabled. Solution In Windows 95, shut down the computer, remove and reinsert the diskette drive, then turn on the computer. In Windows NT, you do not have to shut down the computer. Disable the write-protect feature or use a diskette that is not write-protected. Format the diskette. Use a larger capacity diskette. Verify the drive letter. Run Computer Setup and enable the diskette drive controller or the diskette write ability. Continued Troubleshooting 16-7
