Enabling Energy Save Monitor-When AC Energy Saver is on, you can check the Energy Save Monitor checkbox to enable the energy-saving features of an Energy Star-compliant external monitor. s Checking Energy Save Monitor enables the monitor to go into low-power mode following a screen save timeout. s The Energy Save Monitor feature is network-compatible: if you are using network PC Cards or a network connection on an optional ArmadaStation, you will not be logged off the network when AC Energy Saver is turned on. NOTE: If you enable Energy Save Monitor and your monitor is not Energy Star-compliant, the screen may become distorted when the screen save timeout expires. Setting Timeouts-When AC Energy Saver is on, you can use the drop-down lists in the scroll boxes to set two timeouts. s The Hard Disk Idle timeout is the length of time during which an application does not access information on the hard drive before the hard drive spins down and remains idle until it is again accessed. s The Screen Save timeout is the length of time during which there is no keyboard or mouse activity before the screen is cleared. To restore the screen after the timeout is reached, press any key or click the mouse. To save your settings and close Power Properties, click OK. Your settings are enabled whenever AC Energy Saver is on. NOTE: If you are running Windows 95, you can set a hard disk idle timeout on the Disk Drives tab in Power Properties. Enabling Energy Save Monitor—
When AC Energy Saver
