Accessing Infrared Software Two preinstalled utilities support infrared communication, Direct Cable Connection and Infrared Monitor. Direct Cable Connection Direct Cable Connection operates an infrared, serial cable, or high-speed parallel cable connection between two computers. To run Direct Cable Connection, click StartÆProgramsÆ AccessoriesÆDirect Cable Connection. The program guides you through establishing a connection. When you are asked to choose a port for an infrared connection, select Serial Cable on COM4. When two computers are connected using Direct Cable Connection, the guest computer has access to shared resources on the host computer and to any network to which the host computer is connected. Infrared Monitor Infrared Monitor configures serial infrared communication, displays the settings and properties of the infrared port, and monitors the status of infrared communication links. To access the Infrared Monitor dialog box: s Click the infrared icon in the system tray on the Windows taskbar or s Click StartÆSettingsÆControl PanelÆdouble-click the Infrared icon. Two preinstalled utilities support infrared communication, Direct
Cable Connection and Infrared Monitor.
Direct Cable Connection
Direct Cable Connection operates an infrared, serial cable, or
high-speed parallel cable connection between two computers.
To run Direct Cable Connection, click Start

To access the Infrared Monitor dialog box:
