Skipping Menus with Hotkeys Hotkeys are preset, two-key combinations that take you directly to frequently used functions. The function keys used in hotkey combinations have blue icons on them that represent their hotkey functions. When you press some hotkeys, a popup window appears. To close a popup window, press the hotkey again. Hotkey combinations work only on the computer keyboard, not on an external keyboard. How to Use Hotkeys Function Accessed Hotkey Popup window location Fn+F1 Display switching Fn+F4 Volume for system Fn+F5 beeps, including low-battery warning beeps QuickLock/ QuickBlank Fn+F6 Battery conservation settings Fn+F7 Procedure Press the hotkey to view the current popup window location. Press the cursor keys to relocate the popup window. Press the hotkey to toggle the display among the computer, an external monitor, and simultaneous display. Press the hotkey to display volume settings in a popup window. To increase volume, press the right cursor key. To decrease volume, press the left cursor key. To test settings, press the down cursor key. Press the hotkey to initiate QuickLock, which disables the keyboard and pointing device, and QuickBlank, which clears the screen. (This function is not available unless you have established a power-on password. For information, refer to "Using a Power-On Password" in Chapter 13.)
