Asset Management AssetControl is an asset management utility that makes it easy and inexpensive to maintain an accurate and current inventory of personal computers, components, and monitors that support VESA DDC (Video Electronics Standards Association Data Display Channel) and EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) standards. To access AssetControl, click StartÆSettingsÆControl Panel Ædouble-click the Insight Personal Edition iconÆCategories. The detailed inventory information available includes manufacturer, model, serial number, asset tag, and ROM revision label. This information can be viewed, printed, or saved to a file using either Insight Personal Edition or Insight Manager. To change the asset tag number, turn on or restart the computer, press F10 when the cursor appears upper right on the screen, then select Computer SetupÆIntelligent Manageability. Security Management Security Management provides a variety of security features to protect data and the computer. s Passwords prevent unauthorized access to information stored on the computer or network. s Drive security prevents starting the computer from the diskette drive and writing information to the diskette drive. s Device disabling prevents unauthorized data transfer through fax/modems, serial ports, parallel ports, and infrared ports.
