Disabling Devices You can prevent the unauthorized use of some of the computer's capabilities. This enables you to allow limited use of the computer by another user. You can disable the diskette drive controller, diskette drive write ability, diskette drive boot, the serial port, the infrared port, and the parallel port. To disable a device: 1. Turn on or shut down and restart the computer. 2. Press F10 when the cursor appears upper right on the screen. 3. Select Computer Setup. 4. Click Communication or Storage, depending on the device you want to disable. 5. Follow the onscreen instructions. s For information about the settings on each tab, click the Help button on the tab. To exit the Help program and return to Power Management, click FileÆExit. s To exit Power Management and Computer Setup, click OK or Cancel at the Communication or Storage window, then click Exit at the Computer Setup window. Securing the Computer
Disabling Devices
You can prevent the unauthorized use of some of the computer’s
capabilities. This enables you to allow limited use of the computer
by another user.
You can disable the diskette drive controller, diskette drive write
ability, diskette drive boot, the serial port, the infrared port, and
the parallel port.
To disable a device:
1. Turn on or shut down and restart the computer.
2. Press
F10
when the cursor appears upper right on the screen.
3. Select Computer Setup.
4. Click Communication or Storage, depending on the device
you want to disable.
5. Follow the onscreen instructions.
For information about the settings on each tab, click the
Help button on the tab. To exit the Help program and return
to Power Management, click File

Exit.
To exit Power Management and Computer Setup, click OK
or Cancel at the Communication or Storage window, then
click Exit at the Computer Setup window.
The device is disabled the next time the computer is restarted.
