Controlling Battery Discharge This section tells how to maximize battery operating time. For information on running the system at other battery power levels or while the computer is connected to an external power source, refer to Chapter 4, "Managing Power." Battery pack operating time is affected by how you s Configure the system s Use the computer s Store a battery pack Configuring the System To set up the system for extended battery operating time: s Select the High battery conservation level. (Refer to "Customizing Power Settings" in Chapter 4.) s Select a low screen brightness. (Refer to the table in "Using Hotkeys" in Chapter 3.) s Select a short screen save timeout. (Refer to "Customizing Power Settings" in Chapter 4.) s Enable the system to turn off PC Card modems when they are not in use.
