Using Power Properties You can view and change most power settings by using the Power Properties dialog box. To access the Power Properties dialog box, click StartÆSettings ÆControl PanelÆdouble-click the Power icon. Click a tab on top of the Power Properties dialog box, then follow the onscreen instructions. s The conservation settings available at the Battery Conservation Settings tab apply only when the computer is running on battery power. s Comparable conservation settings that apply when the computer is running from external power are on the AC Energy Saver tab. The AC Energy Saver tab is available only on a computer running Windows NT. The following table lists the settings available at each tab in Power Properties. For information about an item on a tab, click the question mark in the upper-right corner of the Power Properties dialog box, then click the item. The AC Energy Saver, Battery Conservation Settings, and Hibernation tabs are described following the table. Power Properties Settings Tab Settings AC Energy Saver Enable/disable AC Energy Saver; set timeouts for hard disk idle and screen save. NOTE: This tab is present only on a computer running Windows NT. Battery Conservation Settings Set processor speed and battery conservation and brightness levels; enable/disable lowbattery warning beeps; and set timeouts for Suspend, system idle, hard disk idle, and screen save. Using Power Properties
You can view and change most power settings by using the Power
Properties dialog box.
To access the Power Properties dialog box, click Start

The conservation settings available at the Battery
Conservation Settings tab apply only when the computer is
running on battery power.
Comparable conservation settings that apply when the
computer is running from external power are on the AC
Energy Saver tab. The AC Energy Saver tab is available only
on a computer running Windows NT.
The following table lists the settings available at each tab in Power
