Graphical Device Interface (GDI) printers, also called hostbased printers, are not supported. These printers conform to the Windows GDI standard for representing and transmitting graphical objects, and rely on the computer's processor to rasterize print jobs. Printer Performance Architecture (PPA) printers, used by some HP Deskjet printers, are not supported. PPA printers handle only basic printer functions, relying on computer printer software for formatting and other functions. Incompatible Peripherals
Even though they provide a standard parallel port, several
kinds of HP printers are not supported for Jetdirect networking
on traditional networks due to incompatibility or lack of

Graphical Device Interface (GDI) printers, also called host-

rasterize print jobs.
Printer Performance Architecture (PPA) printers, used by some

only basic printer functions, relying on computer printer

Both GDI and PPA printers do not support the Page Description
Languages (PDLs) required for communications with the print
