I/O Menu Items in the I/O (input/output) Menu affect the communication between the printer and the computer. Table 3-9. I/O Menu to Select the I/O time-out period in seconds. (I/O time-out refers to the time, measured in seconds, that the printer waits before ending a print job.) This setting allows you to adjust time-out for best performance. If data from other ports appear in the middle of your print job, increase the time-out value. Press - VALUE + once to change settings by increments of 1, or hold down - VALUE + to scroll by increments of 10. Allocate memory for I/O buffering. : The printer automatically reserves memory for I/O buffering. Additional configurations are not required and the menu item does not appear. : The item appears (see below). Specify the amount of memory to be used for I/O buffering. : I/O buffering is not performed and the item does not appear. When the I/O buffer setting is changed, any downloaded resources (such as fonts or macros) will need to be downloaded again, unless they are stored on an optional hard disk or flash DIMM.
