NOTE Setting the Page Count and Serial Number The page count and serial numbers are stored in Non-Volatile Memory. If it is necessary to replace the Formatter PCA, the page count should be set to the current value to reflect the age of the print engine. The procedure for setting the serial number is similar to setting the page count. Use the following procedure to set the page count: Before removing the old Formatter PCA, print a control panel self test to verify the current page count and serial number of the printer, if possible. If it is not possible to print a self test, try to verify the values before replacing the Formatter PCA by following steps 3 through 5, below. After verifying the page count from the old Formatter PCA, replace it with the new PCA as described in Chapter 6. 1 Enter the Service Mode as previously described in this chapter. 2 When SERVICE MODE is displayed, press [Menu] to access the Service Menu. 3 Press [Item to step through the menu. PAGES=XXXXXX is displayed. (XXXXXX represents the page count currently stored in Non-Volatile Memory. The underlined character denotes the cursor position.) 4 Press [Enter] to scroll the cursor to underline the desired digit. 5 Press [+/-] to select the correct value. 6 Press [Enter] to store the new value in NVRAM. 7 Set each digit in the same manner. Press [On Line] to return the display to SERVICE MODE. Use the procedure described above to set the serial number in the printer memory. 8 Press [On Line] a second time to exit Service Mode. Setting the Page Count and Serial Number
The page count and serial numbers are stored in Non-Volatile Memory.
If it
is necessary to replace the Formatter PCA, the page count should be set to
the current value to reflect the age of the print engine.
The procedure for
setting the serial number is similar to setting the page count. Use the
following procedure to set the page count:
Before removing the old Formatter PCA, print a control panel self test to
verify the current page count and serial number of the printer, if possible.
NOTE
If it is not possible to print a self test, try to verify the values before
replacing the Formatter PCA by following steps 3 through 5, below.
After verifying the page count from the old Formatter PCA, replace it with
the new PCA as described in Chapter 6.
