Figure 5-11 5TRNSTG Image Transferring During the transferring process, the toner image on the drum surface is transferred to the paper. A positive charge applied to the back of the paper, by the transfer roller causes the negatively charged toner on the drum surface to be attracted to the page. The small diameter of the drum, combined with the stiffness of the paper causes the paper to peel away from the drum. The static eliminator teeth also help separate the paper from the drum. The static eliminator teeth weaken the attractive forces between the negatively charged drum surface and the positively charged paper. Without this help, thin paper may wrap around the drum. After separation, the drum is cleaned and conditioned for the next image.
