However, each of the operating systems has its individual syntax, which is shown below in the Operating System Keywords section. I/O Address An I/O address keyword may be used to specify the I/O address of the PCnet adapter. There are different formats for I/O Address settings in the each network operating system environment. Refer to the Operating System Keywords for correct format and usage. For all of the PCnet Family adapters, the I/O address does not need to be specified. Common Keywords
Common Keywords
Common keywords are those keywords that may be used by any of the operating
systems to configure an HP Ethernet Family Adapter. However, each of the
operating systems has its individual syntax, which is shown below in the Operating
System Keywords section.
I/O Address
An I/O address keyword may be used to specify the I/O address of the PCnet
adapter. There are different formats for I/O Address settings in the each network
operating system environment. Refer to the Operating System Keywords for
correct format and usage.
For all of the PCnet Family adapters, the I/O address does not need to be
specified. The driver software will be able to scan for this information on the bus.
Interrupt Channel (IRQ)
Each network operating system environment has different formats and syntax for
interrupt settings. Refer to the Operating System Keywords for correct format
and usage of interrupt settings.
The driver will use the interrupt selected by the PCI System BIOS.
DMA Channel
The syntax for DMA keywords may be different according to the operating
system. Refer to the Operating System Keywords for correct format and usage for
DMA settings.
The driver will use the DMA channel selected by the PCI System BIOS.
