Copying from the Bypass Tray Copying from the Bypass Tray The bypass tray allows you to copy onto non-standard paper. Use the bypass tray to copy onto OHP transparencies, adhesive labels, translucent paper, and paper that cannot be loaded in the paper trays. 2 • Paper that has a horizontal length of 64.0 216.0 mm (2.52 8.50 inches) and a vertical length of 140.0 900.0 mm (5.52 35.43 inches) can be copied from the bypass tray. However, when you use the type 3 machine to copy onto paper that has a horizontal length of 64.0 70.0 mm (2.52 2.76 inches), the output paper may not be properly aligned. • In duplex mode, available size is 98.0 216.0 mm (3.86 8.50 inches) horizontally and 160.0 356.0 mm (6.30 14.01 inches) vertically. • The default paper size for the bypass tray is as follows: • (mainly Europe and Asia) A4 • (mainly North America) 81/2 × 11 • When loading paper onto the bypass tray that is a different size than the above sizes, be sure to specify the correct paper size. • If the paper you want to copy onto is not shown on the Paper Type screen or its paper weight is between 91 g/m2 (24 lb. Bond) and 105 g/m2 (28 lb. Bond), you must specify the paper type under Tray Paper Settings in User Tools. For details about Tray Paper Settings, see "System Settings", Network and System Settings Reference. • During copying, do not open or close the bypass tray. • Do not use OHP transparencies for color copying. • The maximum number of sheets you can load at the same time depends on paper type. Load only as much paper as can be held between the guides on the bypass tray. Overloading the bypass tray can result in misfeeds and skewed images.
