Select a range of ports you wish to configure. This allows the user to set the number of seconds that the Switch remains in the quiet state following a failed authentication exchange with the client. The default setting is 60 seconds. This value determines timeout conditions in the exchanges between the Authenticator and the client. The default setting is 30 seconds. It is defined in SuppTimeout, IEEE802.1X-2001, page 47. The initialization value is used for the awhile timer when timing out the Supplicant. Its default value is 30 seconds; however, if the type of challenge involved in the current exchange demands a different value of timeout (for example, if the challenge requires an action on the part of the user), then the timeout value is adjusted accordingly. It can be set by management to any value in the range from 1 to 65535 seconds. This value determines timeout conditions in the exchanges between the Authenticator and the authentication server. The default setting is 30 seconds. The maximum number of times that the Switch will retransmit an EAP Request to the client before it times out of the authentication sessions. The default setting is 2. It is defined in MaxReq, IEEE-802.1X-2001 page 47. The maximum number of times that the state machine will retransmit an EAP Request packet to the Supplicant before it times out the authentication session. Its default value is 2; it can be set by management to any value in the range from 1 to 10. 201

The fields that can be configured are described below:
Parameter
Description
Unit
Select the unit you want to configure.
From Port / To Port
Select a range of ports you wish to configure.
QuietPeriod
This allows the user to set the number of seconds that the Switch remains in the quiet
state following a failed authentication exchange with the client. The default setting is
60
seconds.
SuppTimeout
This value determines timeout conditions in the exchanges between the Authenticator
and the client. The default setting is
30
seconds. It is defined in SuppTimeout, IEEE-
802.1X-2001, page 47. The initialization value is used for the awhile timer when timing
out the Supplicant. Its default value is 30 seconds; however, if the type of challenge
involved in the current exchange demands a different value of timeout (for example, if
the challenge requires an action on the part of the user), then the timeout value is
adjusted accordingly. It can be set by management to any value in the range from 1 to
65535 seconds.
ServerTimeout
This value determines timeout conditions in the exchanges between the Authenticator
and the authentication server. The default setting is
30
seconds.
MaxReq
The maximum number of times that the Switch will retransmit an EAP Request to the
client before it times out of the authentication sessions. The default setting is
2
. It is
defined in MaxReq, IEEE-802.1X-2001 page 47. The maximum number of times that
the state machine will retransmit an EAP Request packet to the Supplicant before it
times out the authentication session. Its default value is 2; it can be set by management
to any value in the range from 1 to 10.
