Unpacking the Printer after Shipment 1. Unpack the printer as described in Chapter 1. When you unpack the developer unit and drum unit, wipe off any excess toner that is on these units. CAUTIONS: l Do not wipe or vacuum toner off the roller on the developer unit. Avoid touching this roller. l Be careful not to scratch or mar the green drum. Also, do not touch the drum with your fingers, since oils from your skin can permanently mar its surface and affect print quality. 2. Before reassembling the printer, perform the routine cleaning procedures described beginning on page 6-19. (Skip the step on readying your printer for printing.) 3. Assemble the printer as described in Chapter 1. 4. Follow the instructions on setting the paper feed mechanism in Chapter 1, page 1-23. This procedure causes the paper feed mechanism, which can become misaligned during shipping, to resume its original position. 6-40 Maintenance and Transportation
