Testing the Printer 3. Take a stack of paper and fan it. Next, tap the edges of the paper on a flat surface to even up the stack. 4. Insert the stack of paper into the paper cassette, making sure that the top of the stack does not cover the red line inside the paper cassette. Push the paper in gently as far as it can go. 5. Slide the paper guides together (if necessary) until they are both resting lightly against the paper. 6. Close the manual feed tray. 7. Reinsert the paper cassette into the printer with the arrow on the side of the cassette pointing into the printer. Push the cassette in until it goes no further and lower the end of the cassette (the end you load paper into) until it drops into place. CAUTION: It is particularly important to lower the cassette into place. If the cassette is not installed properly, the message PAPER EMPTY appears in the display. 2-4 Testing and Connecting Your Printer
