chapter 2_Setups 4. Insert the DVD-RAM disc cartridge into the disc guide, so that the side of disc you want to record faces the hand strap (see p.37), with the disc shutter towards the video lens. The cartridge will stop once midway: Firmly push it in until it stops. Disc guide Hand strap Shutter Caution: • The DVD-RAM disc has an orientation: If it is forcibly inserted from the wrong direction, the DVD camcorder or cartridge could be damaged. 5. Gently push the section indicated "PUSH" on the cover of disc insertion block (hand strap), to close the cover. Caution: • The cover cannot be closed unless the disc is correctly inserted. If the cover does not close, remove the disc and reinsert it. 6. Push down the POWER switch to turn the DVD camcorder on. When the DVD camcorder is turned on, an image will appear in the viewfinder and disc recognition will start. After approximately 25 seconds, the DVD camcorder will enter the recording pause status. Make sure of the remaining space on disc, referring to indicators "remaining recordable time/number of recordable stills" described in "Information Display during Recording", p. 62. (In case of movie) Cautions: It will take more time than usual after the disc is inserted before recording can begin in the following cases: • When the cover of disc insertion block is open • When the date changes (first recording of a day) • When the temperature changes at least 50 °F (10 °C) from the previous recording status • When a disc with scratches, dirt or fingerprints is inserted 48

Insert the DVD-RAM disc cartridge into
the disc guide, so that the side of disc
you want to record faces the hand strap
(see p.37), with the disc shutter towards
the video lens.
The cartridge will stop once midway: Firmly push

Caution:
The DVD-RAM disc has an orientation: If it is forcibly inserted from the wrong direction, the DVD
camcorder or cartridge could be damaged.
