Clone Template Volume Wizard, Volume space

Page 389 highlights

NOTE: Cloning a snapshot creates a new standard volume, template volume, or thin clone volume with a new name and new iSCSI target name, but with the same reported size, pool, and contents as the original volume at the time you created the snapshot. The group allocates space equal to the volume reserve you specify for the new volume. If you reserve snapshot space for the new volume, the group allocates additional space. Also, the snapshot still exists after the clone operation. Clone Template Volume Wizard Cloning creates new copies of a volume that are the same type and have the same contents as the original volume. Table 118. General Volume Settings Field Description Shortcut General properties Name Name can be up to 63 bytes and is case-insensitive. You can use any printable Unicode character except for First and last characters cannot be a period, hyphen, or colon. Space Field Volume space Description Shortcut Volume size Size of the volume. The size cannot be changed because you are making a clone of the original volume. If cloning from a thin-provisioned volume, you can change the space allocation (with the slider bar) for the new volume. The group updates the values in the Pool Space table, based on the space settings. Alt+S Thin provisioned volume Shows whether or not the original volume was thin provisioned. If it is selected, you (use sliders to adjust can adjust the sliders to readjust space settings settings) Alt+T Snapshot space Snapshot reserve (percent of volume reserve) Sets the percentage of the volume reserve to delegate to snapshots Alt+R Reported volume size size Shows the total size of the volume, and the amount of in-use space and free space on the volume. NOTE: Cloning a snapshot creates a new standard volume, template volume, or thin clone volume with a new name and
new iSCSI target name, but with the same reported size, pool, and contents as the original volume at the time you
created the snapshot. The group allocates space equal to the volume reserve you specify for the new volume. If you
reserve snapshot space for the new volume, the group allocates additional space. Also, the snapshot still exists after the
clone operation.
Clone Template Volume Wizard
Cloning creates new copies of a volume that are the same type and have the same contents as the original volume.

Volume size
Size of the volume. The size cannot be changed because you are making a clone of
the original volume. If cloning from a thin-provisioned volume, you can change the
space allocation (with the slider bar) for the new volume. The group updates the
values in the Pool Space table, based on the space settings.
