Dell recommends that you connect all the client network interfaces and distribute the connections across stacked network switches for high availability. For security, Dell recommends that the client network be in a different subnet from the SAN network. The Modify Client Network dialog box includes the following tabs: • Client Network • Advanced Table 329. Client Network Settings Title Field Network settings NOTE: Primary client network is referred to as Client from the client network. VLAN ID Netmask Default Gateway Virtual IP addresses Enter up to 8 IP addresses Description Shortcut Default is 0. Limits are 1-4094. Netmask of the NAS cluster, which identifies the subnet Alt+M to which the NAS cluster IP address belongs Gateway that allows the client access across multiple subnets. For NAS controller failovers to work, the default gateway IP address must be reachable from host in the client network. Alt+G IP address of the NAS cluster, which client computers use to access the SMB shares and NFS exports hosted by the NAS cluster. If the client network is a routed network, you can modify the client network configuration and add more NAS cluster IP addresses for proper load balancing across multiple client subnets.
