Installing Windows XP Installing Retail Windows XP 2. Follow the remaining on-screen instructions to complete installation. 3. Before the wireless LAN will function on most networks, LAN settings must be configured properly. These settings must be obtained from a network administrator. Upon successful installation of the drivers, you will be asked to reboot your notebook. Choose YES, I WANT TO RESTART MY COMPUTER NOW if you have no other drivers to install. Otherwise, choose NO, I WILL RESTART MY COMPUTER LATER and continue to the next step. To install the ESS modem drivers While the ESS Modem will function with the default XP drivers, Hewlett-Packard has not fully tested these drivers. For this reason, Hewlett-Packard suggests that you install the drivers provided on the Recovery CD. 1. Run SETUP.EXE from the ESS modem driver directory on the Recovery CD. 2. Choose to upgrade drivers. 3. Follow the remaining on-screen instructions to complete installation. Upon successful installation of the drivers, you will be asked to reboot your notebook. Choose YES, I WANT TO RESTART MY COMPUTER NOW if you have no other drivers to install. Otherwise, choose NO, I WILL RESTART MY COMPUTER LATER and continue to the next step. To install the Lucent modem drivers While the Lucent Modem will function with the default XP modem drivers, HewlettPackard has not fully tested these drivers.
