l Never turn off your computer while a disk drive light is on. This can destroy data stored on disk or make a whole disk unusable. l Always wait at least five seconds after you turn the power off before you turn it on again. Turning the power off and on rapidly can damage the computer's circuitry. l Do not leave a beverage near your computer or any of its components. Spilled liquid can damage the circuitry of your equipment. Turning on the power After you have charged the battery (by connecting the AC adapter to the computer) for at least five minutes, you are ready to turn on your computer. Be sure to leave the AC adapter connected while you use the computer for the first time. 1. Before you turn on the computer, turn on any peripheral devices such as a printer, an external diskette drive, or a color monitor. 2. If your computer has a hard disk, turn it on with the switch on the back panel. It is best to leave this switch on at all times. 3.
