You need to recharge the battery at these times: l Before you use the computer for the first time l If the battery has not been used for a long time l If the low battery indicator light starts flashing (see "LED Indicators" below). After the low battery light starts to flash, you have a maximum of 15 minutes before the power is completely gone. If you continue using the computer without connecting the adapter, power runs out and you lose data. To recharge the battery, connect the AC adapter to the computer and to an electrical outlet. You can charge the battery whether the computer is on or off. For the maximum charge, leave it connected for 12 hours. The battery pack cannot be overcharged; so don't worry if you leave it connected for more than 12 hours. Remember the following when you are charging the battery: l Use only the AC adapter that comes with the Equity LT. Using a different one can damage the computer. l It is best to charge the battery for at least five hours at a time. If you charge the battery for only short periods, it tends to run low sooner. The length of time the battery can provide power after being charged depends on how you are using the computer. A fully-charged battery provides approximately five to seven hours of use for simple operations.
