9 Troubleshooting Solving basic printer problems Sometimes printer problems or an unresponsive printer are very easy to solve. When a problem occurs, first make sure that: • The printer power cord is plugged into the printer and a properly grounded electrical outlet. • The printer power switch is on. • The electrical outlet is not turned off by any switch or breaker. • Other electrical equipment plugged into the outlet is working. • The printer driver settings are correct. • All options are properly installed. If all of the problems listed are checked, and a problem still exists, turn the printer power off, wait for about 10 seconds, and then turn the printer power on. This often fixes the problem.
