Taking Pictures Selecting a Shooting Mode 3 Touch the desired shooting mode icon. A guide display of the selected shooting mode appears. • To skip the guide display, double-touch the Night Scene Used for night scenes. Use a tripod, etc. to prevent shaking and use a flash for portraits. icon. The shooting mode is selected and the camera returns to Capture mode. Palette OK • Touch the arrow icons (qr) to advance to other shooting modes. • Touch [Palette] to return to the [Capture Palette]. 4 Touch [OK]. The shooting mode is selected and the camera returns to Capture mode. 5 Press the shutter release button halfway. 3 The focus frame on the LCD monitor turns green if the subject is in focus. 6 Press the shutter release button fully. The picture is taken. Memo You can set the display not to show the guide by default (p.165). Taking Portrait Pictures To take portrait pictures, select either I (Portrait) mode or C (Kids) mode. In I (Portrait), the face recognition AF and face recognition AE functions is activated. The position of the face is recognized automatically simply by pointing the camera at the subject from the front, and the focus is adjusted (face recognition AF) and exposure adjusted (face recognition AE) to take the picture. C (Kids) mode is particularly suited to taking pictures of children who move around a lot because the auto-tracking AF is activated. 1 In Capture Mode, touch the LCD monitor. The [Capture Toolbar] appears. 45
